Services slated for former Navy Commander Gary W. Lubbers

Graveside services will be held at Lemoore Cemetery on March 21 at 10:30 a.m. for Cmd—Gary W. Lubbers, who died March 6, 2024, at the age of 88.

Gary Lubbers was born to parents Elston and Dorothea Lubbers on Jan. 16, 1936, in Belleville, Illinois.

Cmdr. Lubbers had a brother, Jim Lubbers, and a sister, Marcia Lubbers Powgnas Bjorklund.

Cmdr. Lubbers also had a spouse, Margaret Lubbers (deceased), and children: Gary Michael Lubbers, Steven Scott Lubbers (deceased), Christopher Allen Lubbers, and Tamara Lubbers Delgado.

He is survived by seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and nephews.

Cmdr. Lubbers served over 20 years in the Navy, mainly as an aviator.

After retiring from the Navy, he owned several businesses. He enjoyed building and flying model airplanes.
