The California Department of Public Health (CDPH), on January 7, 2021, issued recommendations for local health departments to vaccinate individuals in all tiers of Phase 1a. It is also encouraged that local health departments make special efforts to vaccinate the vaccinators, and that vaccine doses be allocated based on the assumption that not all members of eligible tiers will accept it. The Kings County Department of Public Health has recently reconfigured the way it reports the latest COVID-19 statistics. County health officials have separated Kings County's correctional facilities and nursing facilities from the total cases, which as of July 11, is 1,626 total cases with 13 deaths. The Kings County Department of Public Health on Monday night (June 30) confirmed the county's 30th death due to coronavirus and 23 additional cases of COVID-19, one of the individuals was associated with Kings County prisons.
