Kings Christian 8-man Central Section champs after crushing Fresno Christian 49-2
With Friday night’s victory the Crusaders finished the year at 8-3 and were 5-0 in the Central Sierra League. Fresno Christian dropped to 7-4 overall and 4-1 in the league. Kings Christian beat the Eagles earlier this season, on October 4, 49-24.
“They (players and fans) were excited,” said Brooks, whose team has beaten Fresno Christian twice this year and avenged a lost in the finals last year. “A lot of our boys were on the team last year when we lost it, and some on the team were here when we won it two years ago.”
Brooks’ squad, which dominated on the offensive and defensive sides of the line, opened quickly, outscoring Fresno 21-2 in the first half. The Crusaders added 28 more points in the second half while their defense held Fresno in check.
“It was a good game plan,” said Brooks. “They played all facets of the game really well.”
Eric Savage scored three times in the game, hauling in 128 receiving yards. Mason Munoz scored twice on a pair of touchdown passes from quarterback Josh Robinson, who was 9 for 15 for 235 yards and five touchdowns.
But it was the defense that really stood out, said Brooks. “They defense really came up. We just gave up a total of 163 yards.”

Kings Christian High School will play Fresno Christian High School Friday night, Nov. 15 for the 8-man Division VI Central Section championship. The Crusaders, who will host the title game at 7 p.m., put their finishing touches on the Central Sierra League title after defeating Riverdale Christian Saturday afternoon 54-8.
The Crusaders completed an undefeated 5-0 season in the CSL with the convincing win Saturday. They were 7-3 overall. Fresno Christian finished 4-1 in the CSL and were 7-3 overall. The Crusaders appear to be the favorite to win the title in what amounts to a rematch. They beat Fresno Christian 49-24 in a game played in Lemoore on October 4.
The Crusaders were indeed impressive, scoring 35 first-half points to take a commanding lead, adding three more TDs in the second half to win the CSL 8 man championship. If the game were on ESPN, Kings Christian’s Mason Munoz could claim his own highlight reel, scoring four times in the game, including a 62-yard touchdown run in the second quarter that gave his team a 21-0 lead. Munoz finished with 148 yards on 12 carries.
Theo May scored the Crusader’s first touchdown on a two-yard run that started the ball rolling. Munoz made it 14-0 with his five-yard TD, also in the first period.
In the second half, Josh Robinson got into the act with a four-yard TD while Bryson Lopez scored on a 16-yard scamper. Derick Hill closed out Kings Christian scoring with a 40-yard touchdown run on his only carry of the night.
Quarterback Robinson also went nine for 15 with 130 yards passing.
