Lemoore first-term City Councilmember Eddie Neal, the victim of a hit-and-run driver, on Wednesday at the intersection of Linda Lee Circle and Cinnamon Drive is doing well Tuesday night after undergoing surgery for injuries sustained in the accident. Neal left the hospital on Wednesday in time for Thanksgiving and will continue his recuperation at home.

Police have not located the hit and run driver and are urging anyone who saw the accident or a white van that ran a stop sign and struck Neal’s vehicle in the rear, to call the police department at 924-9574.

Neal underwent treatment at the Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno. He complained of back pain immediately following the crash.

The collision occurred about 6 p.m. on Wednesday. Neal was driving a 1989 Chevrolet and was headed south on Cinnamon when the driver of the white van ran the stop sign and turned in front of him, according to police.

The van smashed into Neal’s vehicle, causing him to lose control. Neal’s vehicle swerved into a fence and stopped. The hit-and-run driver kept driving.
