Lemoore Volunteer Fire Department gets second turn at Organization of the Year

Often referred to as unsung heroes of Lemoore, the 34-member strong fire department consists entirely of volunteers and is led by longtime volunteer John Gibson. Chief Gibson and his volunteers meet weekly for regular educational and training sessions. They are also well represented at every community and holiday event in Lemoore, including the raising of the annual Christmas tree at the intersection of D and Fox streets.
Local volunteers also visit local schools to help educate kids about fire safety and prevention.
Due to their efforts the Lemoore Volunteer Fire Department has earned an extremely high ISO rating of three, on par or better than regular paid fire departments in Kings County.
In 2013 through October, Lemoore volunteers had responded to 202 fires, 1,246 EMT calls, 256 miscellaneous educational or community events and 44 meetings and drills.
