Assemblymember Salas announces big Hanford grant

SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Rudy Salas (D-Bakersfield) announced today that the City of Hanford has been awarded a state grant of $700,000 and the County of Kings is also receiving $700,000 from the Department of Housing and Community Development.

“I am pleased that the State has awarded this funding to the City of Hanford and Kings County,” said Assemblymember Salas. “This funding will not only help existing homeowners but also make it easier to attain and maintain homeownership throughout the area,” concluded Salas.

The HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) Program grant provides primarily rural cities and counties with funding resources to meet the housing needs of lower-income residents.

The grant monies can be used for downpayment assistance, purchasing a family’s first home, housing rehabilitation, allowing lower-income families and seniors to remain in their homes, and tenant-based rental assistance to make rental housing affordable.
