The winning streak continues as Lemoore pounded host Hanford on Tuesday night 3-0 to remain atop the West Yosemite League standings, and then clobbered Hanford West 5-0 in Neighbor Bowl.

The Tigers improved to 5-1 in league play and are 13-2 overall. The Tigers hope to continue their winning ways when they host Redwood Thursday night in Tiger Stadium. Redwood was the only team to beat the Tigers in league.

"We pressured Hanford West's goal consistently," said Coach Janet Brown. "Kelley Mellott scored a beautfiul goal in the first 10 minutes followed by a shot hit by Erin Duenes from a hard angle from the left."

Other goals came from Yavi Ledezma off a corner kick and another from Keelynn Kaalekahi as Lemoore dominated the game with its vaunted passing attack. Kaalekahi had another goal on a free kick.

Against Hanford Tuesday night Kaalekahi scored a blistering goal to kick off the Tigers scoring. She also booted a penalty kick and Lisette Brown handed off an assist to Traci Roa who scored from 25 yards out.

It was a good week for Lemoore’s Lady Tiger soccer team as the ladies won both their matches to keep pace in the West Yosemite League. On Wednesday Lemoore edged El Diamante 1-0 and then returned home on Friday to beat Golden West 2-1.

Golden West came into Friday’s game with a perfect 4-0 mark in the league, having just defeated Redwood to take over the top spot. The Tigers, thanks to their victory are in a virtual tie for first place with Redwood and the Trailblazers.

Against Golden West Erin Duenes scored in the first half and Traci Roa added the finishing touches with a goal in the second half.

The pair of victories improved the Tigers record to 3-1 in the WYL and 11-2 overall. Lemoore’s only loss was a 2-1 loss to Redwood on January 7.

“We played El Diamante tough knowing that they wanted some revenge on us since we beat them in the Lady Tiger Tournament,” said Tiger Coach Janet Brown. “We knew we had to be prepared to play them on their home field.”

Brown said it was a tight contest and the Miners kept the pressure on Lemoore’s goal. In one case Amy Brown saved a ball from sneaking into the net to save a goal.
