After high speed chase, Lemoore Police catch up with suspected drunk driver

On Sunday, February 16, Lemoore police officers responded to a local business on N. Lemoore Ave. where patrons said a black Audi was possibly being driven by a drunk driver. The driver of the black Audi was reported to be parked in the flower bed by the drive-through at the business.

The first officer that arrived on scene located the Audi, with the driver inside, parked in the flower bed. The officer approached the vehicle and made contact with the driver who was slouched over in the front seat. The officer ordered driver to turn off the car. The driver failed to comply and immediately began trying to put the car in drive.

The officer leaned in the driver's door window and attempted to turn the ignition off. While doing so, the officer detected the odor of alcohol within the car. The officer was unable to turn the car off and he removed himself from the vehicle just before the suspect backed out of the flower bed. The driver then sped away westbound through a shopping center parking lot.

Another officer arrived and the two officers saw the suspect turn northbound onto Fox Street and then westbound onto W. Hanford Armona Road. The officers estimated the suspect vehicle's speed at over 100 mph. The suspect ran a red light at W. Hanford Armona Road and State Route 41 and turned southbound on State Route 41. The officers lost sight of the suspect vehicle and discontinued the pursuit.

The initial officer involved in the pursuit checked a nearby neighborhood and saw a black Audi in a garage of a home on Persimmon Street. The garage door was closing but the officer could see the suspect near the door that leads into the home. The suspect refused to come out of the residence but was eventually taken into custody.

The suspect, 22-year-old Victor Pablo Ramos, of Lemoore was booked for evading a police officer in a vehicle, driving under the influence of alcohol, hit and run, resisting or delaying a police officer, and driving on a suspended driver’s license. Ramos' bail was set at $55,000.00

No injuries were sustained during the incident.
