Kings Christian beats up on Paramount Academy to continue winning

Chalk up another win for Kings Christian High School as it continues to seek another East Sierra League championship. On Tuesday the Crusaders scored three first inning runs and then added another in the fifth to beat Paramount Academy. The Crusaders are 4- in the ESL and 6-3 overall. They hit the road for a Friday game at Orosi as they continue play in the ESL.

Earlier Action

Kings Christian High School tuned up for the restart of East Sierra League play with a convincing 12-2 victory over non-league opponent Avenal on Friday. The Crusaders return home for a Tuesday afternoon game against ESL rival Laton High School.

Mason Munoz started on the mound for the Crusaders and got relief help from Daniel Soares and Stephen Bridgford as the trio limited Avenal to just a pair of runs.

The big bats came from Munoz who went two for three at the plate and Brandon Bower who was perfect with a three for three. Eric Savage had two RBIs on a single in the third to spark a rally. The big inning was in the fourth when the Crusaders scored five times to break the game wide open.

Kings Christian improved to 4-2 overall and are currently 2-1 in the ESL.

Farmersville loss

The Kings Christian Crusaders dropped an East Sierra League game to the team they tied for the title last year 6-3 on Tuesday night. Tied with Farmersville 3-3 going into the top of the eighth inning, the Crusaders surrendered three runs in the inning and eventually lost to their league rivals in extra innings. The loss dropped Kings Christian to 2-1 in the ESL and 3-2 overall.

Kings Christian’s Crusaders are hoping to win another East Sierra League championship to go along with last year’s league title, one they shared with Farmersville. They got off to a great start with a 5-2 victory over Orosi on the Crusaders’ home field.The Crusaders have played just three times, have won twice. They earned a 19-0 win over Avenal before dropping a 16-2 loss to Coast Union from Cambria. On Tuesday the Crusaders rebounded and won their ESL opener against Orosi.

In that game Mason Munoz went two for three in the game with a run scored and an RBI. Froy Gutierrez was also two for three with a run scored.

Daniel Solis’ sixth inning squeeze bunt brought home a run and he also got the win on the mound, going the final two innings to earn the victory. Eric Savage started for the Crusader and nearly went the distance.
