It was a near perfect night – a bit warm at the beginning – but family, friends, relatives and others were treated to a stirring rendition of the annual commencement ceremony at Lemoore High School, h
eld Thursday night in Tiger Stadium. It was the 113
th rendition of an LHS graduation ceremony. A total of 410 Lemoore High School seniors donned purple gowns and golden tassels – a number of Native American students wore feather tassels – and accepted their diplomas before a capacity stadium crowd.
The crowd was greeted by faculty and students march in to the stadium to the tune of “Pomp and Circumstance,” and welcomed in several languages, from English to Portuguese. Valedictorian Bonnie Law delivered an inspiring address entitled “Let’s Get Down to Business,” while Salutatorian Alyssa Lim spoke on “The Things We Give to Others.”
District board members Dr. Lupe Solis, Kathy Neves, Lois Hubanks, Jeanne Castadio and John Droogh presented diplomas to students.
Once the diplomas were all handed out the lights went out and the fireworks began. At the conclusion of the fireworks parents, friends and relatives entered the field to congratulate the students. (Photos by Newman Garcia Studio)
