Crowd begins to form to run in November City Council election; candidates have until Aug. 8

So far the race to for two open spots on the Lemoore City Council may be a crowded field. As of Thursday five prospective candidates have pulled papers to run for Lemoore City Council in the November election.

Two have applied for the position to fill John Gordon’s seat, which became open when he resigned due to health reasons.

So far Ray Madrigal, a retired California Highway Patrol captain and commander, has expressed an interest in the vacant position as has Michael Montalbano. The date to submit an application and resume closes July 25. Council is expected to make a decision during their August 5 meeting.

Madrigal has also pulled papers for the November election as has Montalbano. Others pulling papers include Holly Blair, Jeff Chedester, and incumbent Willard Rodarmel. The filing period for the November election is August 8.

Candidates must pick up an election packet from the city clerk and obtain 30 signatures on a nomination form.
