Five so far will challenge for two seats in the upcoming Lemoore City Council election

There are five confirmed candidates willing to run for two open spots on the Lemoore City Council. One of those persons, Ray Madrigal, a retired California Highway Patrol Commander, was appointed to one of those open seats Tuesday night, left vacant by former councilmember John Gordon. The four, and incumbent Willard Rodarmel will challenge for two seats in the November election.

The others seeking a spot on the Lemoore City Council include Holly Blair, fresh from a run against Kings County Supervisor Doug Verboon, is also in the race. The mother of five and married for the past 12 years, is a West Hills College instructor and community activist. Jeff Chedester is a local businessman who has spent the last 19 years living in Lemoore with his hometown wife and six children. Michael Montalbano is veteran of the U.S. Navy and currently works for Boeing at NAS Lemoore. He is also a member of the Lemoore Police Department's Volunteers on Patrol.

Gordon resigned last month due to health-related reasons forcing the council to appoint a member to fill his seat. Councilmembers opted to appoint someone due to the length of time between now and the November election.

Candidates must pick up an election packet from the city clerk and obtain 30 signatures on a nomination form. The filing period for the two seats in November closes on August 8.
