Lemoore’s most successful football coach was honored prior to Friday night’s home football opener in Tiger Stadium. Jim Hammond, who in his 25 years at Lemoore High School, coached basketball, golf, track and of course football, earned a spot as one of the top coaches in the Valley. Hammond perfected a no-huddle offense and his program became one of the top football schools in the San Joaquin Valley - winning numerous league championships. Keep reading...
School began last week for youngsters from kindergarten to high school, and on Monday, classes begin anew at West Hills College where some 6,000 students are expected to begin attending classes. There’s a new sheriff in town, or at least one new councilmember, who just happens to bare a slight resemblance to a sheriff. Ray Madrigal, a 30-year veteran of the California Highway Patrol, who retired as a captain and commander, was sworn in Tuesday night to fill a vacant seat on the Lemoore City Council. Keep reading...

The annual City of Lemoore July 4th Celebration, sponsored by Kings County Behavioral Health, has announced a schedule of events for Friday’s national holiday in the Lemoore City Park. The day will begin with the annual 5k Run and 3K Walk at 7 a.m. Participants must register by June 21 in order to receive a free T-shirt. The cost to enter the walk/run is $20 for runners and $15 for walkers. Keep reading...
