Juvenile burglary suspect cornered after nearly colliding with police vehicle

A male juvenile was apprehended by Lemoore police officers after nearly colliding with a patrol vehicle on Friday, Nov. 14. Lemoore police officers were on routine patrol when their unit was almost hit head on by a white four-door car exiting an apartment complex on Sycamore Dr. about 11:40 p.m.

As it passed the officers recognized it as a possible stolen vehicle based on information received earlier in the week. They attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver failed to stop and continued to drive south through the apartment complex. The officers followed the vehicle as it exited the parking lot at which time the driver jumped from the car and ran into another apartment complex.

Additional officers quickly set up a perimeter around the area and began a yard to yard search in the area of Oakdale Lane. After searching several yards, officers found the suspect hiding on the side of a house trying to conceal himself in some bushes. When spotted by police, the suspect ran again through several yards with officers in pursuit.

The suspect continued to run into the parking lot of the Best Buy where he was apprehended by assisting officers. He was identified as a male juvenile with frequent law enforcement contacts on active probation.

Upon searching the vehicle, which had been reported stolen out of Visalia, officers located a large amount of stolen property. The items had been taken from a commercial burglary that had occurred a week prior from a shop within the City of Lemoore.

Lemoore officers conducted a probation search at his residence and located additional stolen property and what was believed to be proceeds from the sale of additional stolen property.

The juvenile was booked into the juvenile center on charges of evading, resisting arrest, possession of stolen property, and motor vehicle theft. He is being held without bail.
