Kings County deputies chase down suspects after long pursuit

Due to the scene's terrain, deputies waited for a patrol truck and Ag Crime Detectives to respond. Once detectives arrived on the scene, the vehicle immediately left the scene. Fortunately, a deputy had pre-positioned themselves and utilized spike strips to disable the trailer. 

At some point during the initial phase of the pursuit, the suspects were able to disconnect the trailer and continue eluding deputies.  The pursuit continued through dirt, canal roads, orchards, and fields, and paved and unpaved roadways. 

Eventually, the pursuit traveled through Tipton & Tulare County, reaching speeds of over 80 mph. The suspect dropped off one suspect in an orchard near Avenue 184 & Road 96. CHP's H40 and Tulare County's air units directed deputies through back roads and traffic conditions. 

The suspect vehicle finally stopped on Prine Drive just Southwest of Tulare. The California Highway Patrol, and the Tulare County Sheriff's Office assisted with the apprehension of Eduardo Gallardo (01/11/84) who ran to a tent in a homeless encampment. The second suspect ran into another homeless encampment behind a residence and was not located due to the cluttered landscape. The third suspect was also not located. 

Deputies arrested the suspect, Gallardo, and booked him into the Kings County Jail for PC 148, felony theft, in addition to five outstanding warrants for felony and misdemeanor offenses. The bail was set at $125,000.
