A Lemoore police officer, on Wednesday, Jan. 7, arrested on suspicion of identity theft, forgery, burglary, misappropriation of found property a Lemoore woman while conducting a follow-up on a forgery case at a local business.

The police officer was conducting follow-up on a forgery case when he made contact with the female suspect. The suspect, 43-year-old Leticia Brice of Lemoore, gave the officer a false name, which she had been using to cash forged checks. The officer knew it was not her real name based on his investigation.

According to police, Brice had a purse with her that contained stolen checks, credit cards, debit cards, social security cards, and government issued identification belonging to at least four other people. While attempting to arrest Brice, she began to resist him and tried to hand a bag she was carrying to a second female who was with her. The officer was able to place her in handcuffs without further incident.

During questioning about the incident and items, Brice provided her true name and admitted to trying to cash several checks using a fictitious name. She is also suspected in several other cases in Lemoore as well as in Hanford, all of which are being actively investigated.

Brice was transported and booked into the Kings County jail on charges of identity theft, forgery, burglary, misappropriation of found property, and committing a felony while out on bail. Brice said she was out on bail for identity theft. Her bail was set at $225,000.00
