Police apprehend man suspected of motorcycle theft

A Lemoore police officer was on patrol on Thursday, Jan. 8 at about 11 a.m. in the area of N. Lemoore Avenue andMagnolia Avenuewhen he saw a blue Yamaha motorcycle pass by him in the opposite direction. As the motorcycle passed he saw that the rear license plate was obscured by a paper plate from a repair shop.

The officer knew that another Lemoore officer had taken a stolen vehicle report that morning regarding a blue Yamaha motorcycle. The officer made a u-turn and got behind the motorcycle and noticed that there appeared to be a license plate behind the paper plate.

The officer stopped the motorcycle and contacted the driver, 41-year-old Leslie Saiz of Lemoore. While speaking with Saiz he noticed that the ignition was missing and Saiz did not have any documentation for the motorcycle.

The officer removed the paper plate and ran the license plate and was advised that the motorcycle had been reported stolen to the Fresno Police Department.

Saiz was taken into custody and a search led to the discovery of 6.2 grams of methamphetamine as well as concentrated cannabis. He also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest fromKingsCountyfor auto theft.

He was transported and booked into the Kings County Jail on suspicion of auto theft, possession of methamphetamine for sale, transportation of methamphetamine for sale, possession of concentrated cannabis, and his warrant. His bail was set at $95,000.00.
