Lemoore police investigate stabbing incident; man and child injured

Lemoore police arrested a 21-year-old Hanford man on suspicion of attempted homicide on Wednesday night (Aug. 26) at about 8:30 p.m. Police arrested Deandrae Stevens for stabbing a 24-year-old man during a physical fight.

Also injured was a 1-year-old child who sustained a laceration to his foot. The child was treated at the scene. Statements indicated that the suspect was holding the child during the fight.

On Wednesday, Lemoore officers responded to the altercation on East Bush Street. While on the way they were advised that an additional caller stated someone had been stabbed.

Upon the officers’ arrival on scene, they located one victim, a 24-year-old male, who had been stabbed. The victim was transported by ambulance to the Adventist Medical Center in Hanford, where he was treated for a laceration to his chin and released. During the physical altercation the child sustained a laceration to his foot.

Investigating officers determined the suspect was 21-year-old Stevens of Hanford. The suspect information was distributed to the surrounding law enforcement agencies.

A short time later a deputy from the Kings County Sheriff's Department located Stevens in the area of East Bush St. and East D St. in Lemoore. Stevens was taken into custody and later booked into the Kings County Jail for attempted homicide and child endangerment. His bail was set at $550,000.
