Lemoore’s varsity girls’ volleyball team is off to another good start, beating Sunnyside last week 25-19, 25-15, 26-24 in straight sets. While the Tigers are missing one of their most dominant players ever, Jessica Taylor, they still have an amazing stable of depth that could very well take them to another West Yosemite League title.

“We have a great group of girls with a lot of depth,” said Tiger Coach Rachel Taylor. “We have been working hard on our defense and I’m hoping that it will get us some wins.”

A pair of the top returnees include Faith Wyatt, a tall drink of water, who will be formidable on the front line. Wyatt has been a three-year starter for the Tigers and had 4 blocks and 8 kills in last week’s win against Sunnyside High School.

“Faith Wyatt is our top player,” said Taylor.

Another returnee is Leah Rodrigues, who had 12 digs in the Sunnyside victory. Bailey Kerby is also returning and she had five kills in the win.

The Tigers get back to business with a Sept. 9 match against Tulare Union in the LHS Event Center.
