It was eventually turnovers that led to Lemoore’s first regular season loss in the last two years as the Tigers dropped a non-league football game 41-24 to the Central Section’s top-ranked team Friday night in Clovis High School’s Lamonica Stadium.

Lemoore hopes to rebound this Friday when the Tigers host Buchanan High School in Tiger Stadium.

The Tigers led the Cougars in the second quarter 17-14 on the strength of a 30-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Logan Ahlin to Reggie Davis. The Cougars’ Sean Kuenzinger responded with his second touchdown pass of the night on a 40-yard pass to Coltin Velasquez for a 21-14 lead that Clovis would not relinquish.

According to Tiger Coach Shannon Pulliam, Ahlin suffered a concussion and will be out of the Lemoore lineup for two to three weeks.

After Clovis took an early 7-0 lead in the first, Lemoore’s Josh Roa responded with a 29-yard field goal to cut the gap to 7-3 with about 11 minutes left in the second quarter.
