Lemoore police catch up with wanted narcotics trafficker

Lemoore Police Officers from the department’s Problem Orientated Policing Team on Thursday, Oct. 1, were on patrol in the area of Fox and C Street when they observed a vehicle, known to be associated with a wanted federal fugitive, parked on C Street. The suspect in the warrant was wanted for narcotics trafficking out of Columbus, Ohio.

After watching the vehicle for a short time, they observed a Hispanic male adult exit one of the nearby buildings and walk to the vehicle. Officers were able to identify the male as being the wanted subject, 35-year-old Javier Mesa of Lemoore.

Officers contacted Mesa and he initially provided a false name which the officers knew to be false and a commonly used alias the suspect often used. As he was being handcuffedMesabegan to resist in an attempt to escape custody, but was quickly subdued and taken into custody without further incident.

He was then transported to the Kings County Jail where he was booked on a federal warrant and held without bond. He was later transported to the custody of the Federal Bureau of Investigation for extradition toOhio.
