Mercy! That seems to be Lemoore’s favorite word of late. For the third straight game, the Tigers benefitted from the mercy rule, meaning that their lead going into the final quarters of the last three games were so insurmountable that officials kept the fourth quarter clock running, providing some level of mercy for the opposing team. It’s rare that the mercy rule is implemented in a high school football game, but three games in a row? The Tigers led Golden West Friday night in Visalia 42-0 at the half and with the Trailblazers struggling, officials wisely started the clock as both teams entered the final period.
West Yosemite League Standings
As it was Lemoore improved to a perfect 3-0 in the West Yosemite League as it seems almost destined to face Hanford in the league finale for the title. Hanford Struggled with Redwood Friday night, beating the Rangers 28-26.
A couple of weeks ago Lemoore manhandled the Rangers 41-6.
Next up for the Tigers is a home game with Mt. Whitney Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Tiger Stadium. The Pioneers come into Friday’s game at 2-0 in the WYL with wins over Hanford West and Ed Diamante.
