Lemoore police have finally caught up with a suspect in a 2011 homicide, and on Friday, Oct. 16, local officers arrested Santiago Zamora at a residence in Armona after a tip led to his discovery.

The Kings County Sheriff’s Office and Gang Task Force, Narcotics officers and the SWAT team assisted in the arrest. Zamora was arrested without incident at about 11 a.m.

It was on November 28 in 2011 that police responded to a home in Lemoore where shots were reported fired. When they arrived that night they found numerous people but were told the victim had been taken to the hospital. It was there than 22-year-old Isaac Donez died from multiple gunshot wounds. Zamora, who was 18 at the time, was identified as the suspect but he fled and it wasn’t until Friday that police were able to apprehend him.

During the initial investigation, police were told there were rumors that Zamora had been physically abusing his girlfriend, upsetting her relatives. One relative decided to confront Zamora about the rumors and Donez apparently opted to go along to protect the relative.

They met Zamora at a home on Meadow Place where the relative got into an argument with Zamora while Donez watched. Zamora, a few minutes into the discussion, pulled out a handgun and shot Donez several times.

Lemoore police have followed up on numerous leads and sightings over the past four years but were never able to catch up with him.
