Lemoore High School’s Alyssa Vazquez was the only Tiger to sign a national letter of intent so far, and plans to continue her softball career at Cal State Northridge. The talented softball player sat down in the school’s event center lobby Thursday afternoon, flanked by her parents Marco Vazquez and Sunshine Kenton, and signed her papers.

It was the first day of signing for prospective college athletes. There were a number of Central Section student-athletes who signed Thursday, but only Alyssa signed from Lemoore.

She goes to a Northridge team, a Division I program that won the Big West Conference last season and earned a spot in the NCAA tournament. Overall Cal State Northridge completed an impressive 41-17 season.

Vazquez is a four-year varsity player and was a West Yosemite League honorable mention last season. She batted .368 with 16 RBIs, seven doubles and a pair of home runs.
