Lemoore’s top golf ace, Dani Kinder, couldn’t quite jump over the final hurdle to earn a spot in the California girls’ golf championships next week in Monterey, but she did improve on her score of a year ago when she attended the Southern California Girls Golf Championships.

Kinder fired an 80 on the course at Goose Creek Golf Course in Jurupa Valley. The state championships will be held at Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach.

Kinder shot an impressive 77 at last week’s Central Section Championships to earn a spot in the Southern California tournament. She was in the top five in the Central Section.

None of the Central Section golfers earned spots in the state championships. The Southern California champion was Mira Costa’s Andrea Lee who fired a sizzling 64 to run away with the match. Corona Del Mar’s Amy Matsouka finished second with her 68 while third place went to Palm Desert Southern’s  JiYoon Jang.
