Lemoore's boys' basketball team rebounded from its first loss Thursday with a lambasting of hapless Hoover High School and then thrashing Sunnyside in the Holiday Invitational Tournament. The Tigers used 23 points from Jaylunn English, 13 from Reggie Davis and Matt Borba's 10 points to crush the Patriots 77-40 and improve their overall record to 7-1. The Tigers beat Sunnyside Saturday 80-65.

Fresno High School will play Clovis in the championship game at 7:15 p.m. Lemoore's next game comes against Bullard in the Clovis Elks Tournament, which begins Dec. 26.

Despite 19 points from Allen Perryman and 17 from English, Lemoore's varsity basketball team dropped its first game of the year, a 65-63 thriller to Sanger in the second round of the Holiday Invitational Tournament at Hoover High School on Thursday. The Tigers, who led most of the game, were outscored by the Apaches 22-16 in the final period and fell to 6-1 overall.

Lemoore's varsity boys' basktball team took its first step toward a Holiday Invitational Tournament title with a 66-36 pasting of Buchanan High School Wednesday night in Fresno. The Tigers will tackle Sanger High tonight (Dec. 17) at the Hoover High School west gym at 6:30 p.m. On Friday the Tigers take on Hoover in the Patriots' Event Center at 7 p.m.

The Tigers were really never seriously threatened, as they jumped to a 21-9 first-quarter lead and held on to it. A potent offense, led by English's 36 points erupted for 20 fourth-quarter points while holding the Bears to just four points.

Lemoore improved to 6-0 with the win. Perryman scored 8 points for the Tigers while Matt Borba and Spencer Stinger each had 5.

On Tuesday night the Tigers’ varsity boys’ basketball team sent a message of sorts to the rest of the West Yosemite League by scoring 52 first-half points to beat Hanford West 88-62. The league opener comes just three days after winning four straight in the Kings County Classic.

The 6-0 Tigers would like nothing better to continue their unbeaten streak by winning the Holiday Invitational Tournament, which begins Wednesday night against Buchanan High School. Buchanan entered Wednesday’s game sporting a 2-4 record.
