Kings County Deputies arrest Kings County man on suspicion of homicide

Kings County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested an Armona man on suspicion of homicide on Tuesday, January 26. after responding to a call to 14th Avenue, south of Armona about 7:08 p.m.

The resident at this location called to report a possible dead body inside this residence. 

Upon arrival of the deputies, the caller appeared to be acting strange and had blood on his clothing.  Deputies entered the residence and discovered a deceased female, and based on evidence found at the scene and statements of the male, they arrested Joe Alcala, 50, who was ultimately booked into the Kings County Jail on charges of homicide.

The victim, Deborah Lynn Jessup, 48, was found inside the home.

Detectives responded to the scene and collected evidence and took over the investigation. 

An autopsy was conducted and it was determined that Jessup died from stab wounds to her chest and torso area.

Alcala is co-owner and partner of the Hanford-based Alcala Farms and he also served for a number of years on the Kings County Farm Bureau’s board of directors.
