Lemoore police officers Monday arrested a Lemoore man after he threatened and assaulted a female inside an apartment in Lemoore. Police arrested 23-year-old Erick Sanchez, who was on parole, for suspicion of battery, assault on a police officer with a deadly weapon, felony vandalism and threatening an officer with violence.

On Monday, Feb. 1, at about 5:50 p.m., Lemoore officers were dispatched to an apartment on Blake St. for a disturbance. Callers advised police that there was a male inside of the apartment throwing and breaking items. The male assaulted a female inside of the apartment and broke the windows to the residence.

Officers arrived on scene and could hear the male, later identified as Sanchez, inside of the apartment breaking items. Officers approached the front door in order to detain Sanchez. Sanchez noticed the officer's approach and was able to throw a knife at one of the officers through a crack in the open door.

Sanchez then made threats about having a firearm in his possession. Officers established a perimeter, contained the situation, and began to evacuate the nearby apartments.

The officers were able to communicate with Sanchez while the evacuation began and convinced him to surrender without further incident. Sanchez sustained minor self-inflicted cuts. A female victim sustained bumps and bruises from being struck by Sanchez.

Police Officers were not injured during this incident. Sanchez was on parole. A parole hold was placed on Sanchez.
