Lemoore police officers find mortar round while conducting probation searches in city

Lemoore police officers, while conducting a probation search on Thursday, Oct. 11 at about 2:30 p.m. found a military mortar round in the home of a residence in Lemoore.

The Lemoore police cited Gary Ramirez for having an illegal weapon and having drug paraphernalia in his residence and then released him on the scene, but not before officers requested the assistance of the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department of Explosive Ordinance Disposal team to render the mortar safe. The team responded in short order and took possession of the mortar round.

Lemoore officers found multiple items of narcotics paraphernalia as well as a switchblade knife. In regards to the mortar round, the suspect at the address on West Bush Street said he had purchased the item “a while back” and was unsure if it was inert or not.
