Spirited Tiger soccer ladies shutout Redwood in first half, but lose 3-0 in Division II
Lemoore’s impressive season came to a sudden end in Visalia’s Mineral King Bowl Tuesday night when the No. 2 ranked Rangers scored three second-half goals to defeat the Tigers 3-0.
For the first 40 minutes Lemoore played on an even keel with the five-time reigning West Yosemite League champions. Lemoore concluded an impressive 15-6-2 campaign while Redwood will take its 21-2-2 record into the Division II championship game against Madera South.
“I was really happy with the way my girls played last night,” said Tiger Coach Janet Brown. “They played hard with everything they had. We were putting together things we worked on all season. I’m so proud of all of them, not just how well they played but for their hard work ethic, unity and coachability.”
The Tigers had their chances to score with Litzy Pimentel and Chloe Chedester getting shots on goal. “Michaela Ramirez did well shutting down their right side and Jazmin Padilla kept their best striker out of the game for most of it,” said Brown. Lemoore advanced to the semi-final with thrilling wins over Tulare Union in the Division II opener, a 1-0 overtime win. Then on Friday the Tigers beat Central Valley Christian 2-1 to set up Tuesday’s matchup with Redwood. To view or purchase photos visit Lemooresports.com
