Lemoore's English top WYL basketball player; Perryman and Borba on First Team
The talented senior, who will be sorely missed next year, was an instrumental force in the Tigers winning the Central Section Division II championship, an 84-77 win over powerful Ridgeview in Selland Arena.
The Tigers couldn’t quite get past Long Beach Poly in their quest for a state title, losing 70-59 in the state playoff opener in the LHS Event Center. Long Beach Poly went on to play in the state final and lost to Serra High School.
English led the Tigers in their final game with 22 points. Against Ridgeview in the Central Section championship, he tossed in 23 points to go along with his 10 rebounds.
Joining English on the first team are standouts Matt Borba and Allen Perryman. Second teamers include Roger Wilson and Spencer Stinger. Perryman scored 16 points in the Central Section title game and won the game’s MVP award.
The combination of English, Perry, Borba, Wilson, Spencer and the others on the team helped the Tigers coast to a 26-4 overall record and an 11-1 mark in the WYL.
