Sierra Phelps led Lemoore to a 15-0 shutout of Golden West on Thursday with a grand slam.

It was a pair of very different diamond stories Thursday as Lemoore’s softball team crushed Golden West 15-0 in a mercy game, and Lemoore’s varsity boys’ baseball team dropped a disappointing 5-4 contest to Redwood in Visalia.

The varsity boys will try to get back on track when they face Mt. Whitney in Visalia on Tuesday (April 19) and the ladies tackle Hanford, also on Tuesday, in Hanford.

Lemoore’s softball team improved to 2-3 in the West Yosemite League following the big win. The big highlight came in the second inning when the Tigers’ Sierra Phelps blasted an inside the park home run with the bases loaded. From there it was all downhill for the Blazers, who fell to 1-4.

Against Redwood, the boys got a powerful performance from A.J. Bowe who had a pair of hits with two RBI. The Tigers fell to 1-3 in WYL play and are 11-6 overall.
