On July 13, at about 2:15 p.m., Lemoore police officers responded to a 911 call on South Byron Dr. in Lemoore. Dispatch advised the responding officers that they could hear some type of argument in the background – and the argument was over a vehicle.

Officers arrived on the scene and found 19-year-old Jeremy Thomas Scott. Scott attempted to drive the vehicle despite the officers’ order not to. When the officers followed Jeremy in an attempt to detain him, he became aggressive and resisted. A struggle ensued and Scott was detained and handcuffed.

Scott was later able to remove one of the handcuffs and attempted an escape. Officers struggled with Scott again and became entangled in a physical fight on the ground. Officers then tased Scott once. The Taser was effective, and Scott stopped fighting, and he was taken into custody.

One officer apparently received a bite on the forearm from Scott during the struggle, causing the officer to bleed from the wound. Another officer sustained scratches to his knuckles from the ground fight. Scott sustained a cut to his lip and two small punctures to his back from the Taser.

Scott was booked into the Kings County Jail for battery on a police officer and for obstructing an investigation, and resisting arrest. He is also being charged with threatening a police officer and participating in a criminal street gang.
