The Lemoore Police Department caught what they thought was a speeding assailant, but when he was pulled him over, an officer came up with much more. On Wednesday, Aug. 17, at about 7 a.m. a Lemoore officer stopped a vehicle for speeding in the area of 19th Ave. and Plum Circle in Lemoore.

The driver, identified as 39-year-old Jerry Jacob Medina Sr. of Lemoore, was driving with a suspended license. Prior to having the vehicle being impounded, officers conducted an inventory search and discovered a wallet and driver’s license, which was not his.

Further investigation determined that the wallet and license were stolen from a Hanford resident a few days earlier. The officers also found numerous checks, mail, and identifying information for residents throughout the Hanford and Kings County areas.

Officers also discovered evidence that Medina was attempting to create his own false driver’s license. Credit cards were also located that did not belong toMedina. Lemoore officers and detectives then learned that the stolen credit cards were recently used in local stores to purchase over $2000 worth of merchandise.

A search warrant was written and served on Medina's residence in Lemoore, where more stolen checks and forgery equipment were recovered, as well as some of the items purchased with the stolen credit cards.

Medina was booked into the Kings County Jail for forgery, possession of stolen property, and using a forged access card. His bail was set at $30,000. The Lemoore Police Department and Hanford Police Department are working together to identify other victims in this case and Medina could face additional charges.
