Local police get help from Hanford PD and arrest Lemoore stabbing suspect

Cooperation between the Hanford Police Department and Lemoore Police Department resulted in the arrest of a Lemoore man who police say is suspected of stabbing another Lemoore man during a pickup basketball game at Heritage Park on Saturday, Aug. 20.

The incident was reported to police about 9:33 p.m. Police were told a stabbing had occurred at Heritage Park in Lemoore, adjacent to Hanford Armona Road. A Hanford police officer, as he conducted a routine traffic stop on Mall Dr. in Hanford, found a stab victim being transported to Hanford AMC by a friend.

The victim was an adult male who lives in Lemoore. He received two stab wounds to his upper torso. The victim was treated at Hanford AMC and later released.

The victim reported to police that he and two friends were playing basketball at Heritage Park with three other unknown males. While playing basketball, an argument ensued, and the victim physically fought with the suspect. The suspect left the scene, only to return a short time later. When the suspect returned he approached the victim and they fought. During the fight, the suspect stabbed the victim two times.

During the course of the investigation, the suspect vehicle was located in the driveway of a residence on Opal Avenue in Lemoore. A search warrant was served on the suspect vehicle and residence.

As officers were serving the search warrant at the residence, the suspect arrived home. The suspect was identified as 34-year-old Marrell Rhone.  Rhone was questioned and later booked into the Kings County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon. His bail was set at $25,000.
