Tigers' tennis fail to get past Redwood in dual for first place in West Yosemite League

Lemoore’s talented girls’ tennis team, gunning for a share of the West Yosemite League title on Wednesday on the Tigers’ home court, fell short, losing to powerful Redwood 9-0.

The loss dropped the Tigers to second place in the WYL as they prepare for an Oct. 3 match at Mt. Whitney High School. Lemoore is 6-2 in league play and 13-4 overall.

Lemoore’s top player, Kaitlin Raulino dropped her match in straight sets while Serena Mendoza fell in a pair of lopsided scores.

In other action, Cynthia Moreno beat her opponent 6-4 in the opener, but fell in the second game 2-6 and then lost the third in a close 8-10 decision.

Madison Kuntz and Annelisa Andrada both fell in straight sets as did Joelene Simas. All three Lemoore doubles teams also dropped sets.
