Volleyball team falls splits matches, Hanford up next

Lemoore's varsity volleyball team will take a 3-3 West Yosemite League record into a first-round ending matchup with Hanford High School on Wednesday night (Oct. 5) at the Bullpups' home court. The Bullpups are struggling in the WYL with a 1-4 record.

Lemoore enters the game having just beaten Golden 3-1 in matches Thursday night in the Lemoore Event Center. Lemoore opened with a 25-21 win and went up 2-0 in games with a 15-15 victory. The Tigers allowed the Blazers back into the match, dropping the third set 25-23.

West Yosemite League Standings

The Tigers finished Golden West off with a 25-10 fourth-set victory.

Again Kele Weedman led the Tigers with 11 kills. Shelby Saporetti was close behind with nine kills, as was Annemarie Schalde, who also chipped in with nine kills.

On Tuesday the Tigers lost 3-2 to El Diamante. After Lemoore lost the opening set to the Miners, they rebounded, winning the next two games 25-17, 25-16. El Diamante won the fourth set 25-19 to set up the deciding fifth set, which the Miners took 15-6.
