Tigers back in the West Yosemite League title hunt, crush Pioneers 34-15 in Friday action
In order to challenge for the title, the Tigers will have to defeat El Diamante on Oct. 28 and take on Hanford in the league’s finale on Nov. 4 in Tiger Stadium. Lemoore has a bye this Friday, Oct. 21.
West Yosemite League Standings
Currently Redwood, which had a bye this week, sits atop the league standings with a perfect 3-0 mark. Golden West and Mt. Whitney are 2-1 while the Tigers, at 2-2 and Hanford 2-2, share the next spots.
Once again it was the play of all-around playmaker Jack Foote that dealt a death blow to the Pioneers on Friday night. The talented receiver and running back had a combined 182 yards of offense and scored three touchdowns against the Pioneers. He also caught four passes, including a 54-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jimmie Jeff in the third quarter that gave the Tigers a 27-7 advantage.
Foote also scored twice in the second quarter on runs of 23 yards and 13 yards to give his team a 20-0 lead.
Quarterback Jeff also lit up the lights Friday night, completing 13 of 18 passes for 193 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
The Tigers also got touchdown from Angel Solis, who scored on a two-yard run in the second, and a TD from Joseph Homan on an 18-yard pass from Jeff in the final frame. Homan caught six passes for 74 yards while Jared Holaday had three receptions on the night.
