Police arrest and book 18-year-old suspect with loaded firearm, marijuana

Lemoore police arrested an 18-year-old on suspicion of possession of a concealed firearm, possession of a loaded firearm in a public place, possession of marijuana for sale, transportation of marijuana for sale and driving without a license.

Early Saturday morning, Oct. 22, at about 12:04 a.m., a Lemoore police officer was patrolling in the area of Fox and C streets when he observed a vehicle approaching with its high beams on.

The officer made a traffic stop and upon contacting the driver, identified as Jacob Maciel of Lemoore, the officer noticed the smell of marijuana coming from within the vehicle. Maciel told the officer he had marijuana in his pocket and that he did not have a marijuana recommendation card.

The officer asked Maciel to step out of the vehicle for further investigation, and when the suspect exited the vehicle the officer observed a 9 mm handgun on the floor board under the driver's seat. When the officer checked the gun he found it was loaded.

Lemoore police located marijuana and cash in Maciel's pocket. Maciel was arrested and booked into the Kings County Jail for possession of a concealed firearm, possession of a loaded firearm in a public place, possession of marijuana for sale, transportation of marijuana for sale, and driving without a license. His bail was set at $85,000.
