WHC men's basketball team opens with Oct. 26 scrimmage
This intramural scrimmage will be held in the WHCC gym and give the team a chance to prepare for the upcoming season. A free youth clinic for grades 1-8 will also be offered directly before the game from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
“I am very excited about the upcoming season,” said Mark Arce, Head Basketball Coach. “We have some key players back off of last year’s playoff team and a group of talented freshman.”
West Hills College Coalinga’s Falcons were recently ranked 14th out of 45 teams in Northern California in a preseason poll conducted by the California Community Colleges Men’s Basketball Coaches Association. The poll ranked teams based on previous achievements and the competitive ability they were likely to demonstrate during the new season.
“It’s always nice to be ranked,” Arce said. “The state ranking is voted by the coaches, so it is an honor to be well thought of by your peers.”
The team will take on Saddleback College on Nov. 4 at 6 p.m. before returning home to play William Jessup JV on Nov. 16 at 6 p.m.
