Lemoore police officers on Friday (Nov. 4) at about 3:45 a.m., were conducting a routine premise check at local gas stations, spurred on by recent identity theft incidents, when they spotted something suspicious and investigated.

Officers were checking fuel pumps for skimming devices used in the identity theft cases, and while checking the gas pumps at the Lemoore Fastrip, an officer noticed occupants of a vehicle in the parking lot who appeared to be avoiding her.

The occupants reclined their seat backs as if they were trying to avoid being seen by the officer. Officers contacted the occupants, who were later identified as 42-year-old Dimas Perez of Hanford and 36-year-old Brenda Mojica of Lemoore. The vehicle they were in was reported stolen out of Tulare.

Officers arrested Perez, who had given them a false name, and Mojica for vehicle theft. Upon searching Perez, officers located several shaved keys and methamphetamine. A search of Mojica revealed methamphetamine as well.
