Deputies seek info on attempted store robbery

Local law enforcement officials are seeking additional information on an attempted store robbery on Wednesday, Nov. 23 at the La Fuente Market on Highway 43 and Jackson Avenue.

At about 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, sheriff’s deputies say that three males, wearing dark clothing and masks over their faces and carrying semi-automatic handguns, entered the La Fuente Market and pointed their guns at the clerk.

The suspects spoke to the clerk in English and she immediately backed away from the register. The suspects attempted to break into the register by smashing it on the floor.

While they were doing this, the front clerk and a clerk in the back ran into a bathroom in the back of the store and locked the door. The clerks called 911 using a cellphone.

Unable to open the register and retrieve any money, the suspects fled without any money. They were seen leaving in a light-colored pick-up truck west bound on Jackson Ave.

Investigators are reviewing the video surveillance for further clues.  Anyone with information about this crime is urged to call the Kings County Sheriff's office at 559 852-2720.
