The boys began play in the annual Holiday Invitational Tournament on Wednesday (Dec. 14) with a game against Washington Union which they won 68-60 thanks to a 16-2 first quarter. The girls’ next action won’t come until they begin play in the Arvin Tournament Dec. 27.

Both the Lemoore Lady Tigers and boys’ teams won their WYL opener on Tuesday night, the girls, a 58-45 winner over the Huskies on the Tigers’ home court and the boys, a 65-38 victor at Hanford West.

Returning starter Katelynn Cole led the Tigers with 16 points while Monica Lopez chipped in with 12 points as the Tigers took the early WYL lead. Unfortunately, the Tigers have a long way to go before the league crowns a champ, but they’re off to a good start.

On Friday, in the Kings County Classic, the Tiger boys finally got into the win column with a 69-60 victory over West Yosemite League rival Hanford in the third round of the Kings County Classic Basketball Tournament, but then fell to Bullard Saturday afternoon in an 87-63 loss.

The Tigers lost to Clovis High in the Classic opener 64-51 and followed that loss with a 77-50 loss to Memorial High on Thursday.
