Lady Golden Eagles advance in Warkentin Tourney, Chabot College up next
The tournament this year features a roster of impressive programs in California. The Lady Golden Eagles opened the tournament with the late game Friday night and easily cruised past visiting Hartnell College 84-58.
The Eagles will play Chabot tonight (Dec. 17) in the semi-finals. Chabot beat Santa Barbara rather convincingly in the 5 p.m. game 97-74.
The finals will be held on Sunday at 4 p.m. in the Golden Eagle Arena.
Former Lemoore High School athlete Kiesha Loftin turned in an impressive performance in Friday night’s tourney opener, tossing in 17 points. She was second only to the Lady Eagle’s Daja Roebuck, who equally turned in a solid game with 19 points.
While the Golden Eagles clearly outclassed Hartnell, the visiting team managed to keep it close in the first half, trailing just 34-29 at the halfway point. It was Loftin who gave the Eagles their first lead when she picked off a Hartnell pass and scored to hand her team the lead at 6-3. Moments earlier she connected on a pair of free throws following a foul. Loftin finished with 10 first half points.
