Lemoore’s varsity boys’ basketball team went 1-3 in Garces, hoping to start a winning streak as it prepares to re-enter the West Yosemite League race on January 5 when it hosts Redwood High. Instead, the Tigers enter league play on somewhat of a down note.

Lemoore will play a final pre-season contest at Clovis North High on Jan. 3.

The Tigers competed in the annual Garces Holiday Hoop Challenge and opened on Tuesday with a disappointing 68-60 loss to North High from Bakersfield. The Tigers turned the tide with a 61-50 win over Bakersfield Christian on Wednesday.

Against WYL foe Mt. Whitney, in the tournament finale, the Tigers, despite a 31-23 halftime lead, fell to the Pioneers 53-41. Lemoore scored just 10 second-half points as Mt. Whitney erased a first-half deficit.

Lemoore also dropped a 64-60 game to Kingsburg on Thursday.

The Tigers are currently 5-9 overall and 1-0 in the WYL, the WYL opener a 68-35 win over Hanford West on Dec. 13.
