Tiger wrestlers garner two champs at 5 Counties, girls tops at Sanger tourney
It was a busy weekend for Tiger wrestling. The Lemoore ladies also fared well, taking first place in the weekend’s Sanger High Tournament.

Joint, ranked 17th in the nation by Flowrestlng.org, beat Gabriel Cortez, from Northview High, 2-1 in the 132-pound final on Saturday to take the tourney championship. At 182 pounds, Lemoore’s Angel Solis beat Capo Valley’s Gerardo Hernandez by a 2-1 score to notch another title.
As a team the Tigers, armed with 11 wrestlers, amassed 128 points to finish among the top 10 schools. The top spot went to Selma High School with 219 points.
The Tigers, in addition to Joint and Solis, had three other placers with Jacob Gonsalves finishing 7th overall, Noah Wright 7th, and Joe Romero, 4th.
The Tigers travel to Golden West High School for another West Yosemite League showdown on Thursday.
