On Sunday, January 29, at approximately 2 p.m., the Lemoore Volunteer Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire on Olympic Avenue in Lemoore. The Lemoore Police Department was also dispatched to assist, and upon arrival a vehicle was discovered fully engulfed in flames.

A witness to the incident provided a Lemoore officer with video of a suspicious male in the area just prior to the vehicle fire. The male suspect was later located by an officer in Heritage Park and identified as 50-year-old Lorenzo Vital Ochoa from Alameda County.

During the investigation, it was determined that Ochoa was the person suspected of intentionally lighting the vehicle on fire. Ochoa told the officer that he set his brother’s car on fire because he was mad at him about a recent argument.

Ochoa was booked into the Kings County Jail for arson. His bail was set at $75,000. Ochoa also had a no bail warrant out of Alameda County for a narcotics-related offense.

Anyone with further information regarding this incident is urged to call Officer Lara at the Lemoore Police Department at 924-9574.
