Lemoore’s West Yosemite League champion wrestlers are faring well in the Yosemite Division Championships, being held in Bakersfield this weekend. The Tigers have five wrestlers competing in the semi-final matches Saturday.

Gary Joint, at 132 pounds, breezed through his Friday matches and will wrestle in Saturday’s semi-finals against Buchanan’s Wyatt Peverill. Joint, during Friday’s first round, beat Porterville’s Andrew Caballero, Mira’s Eduardo Perez in round two, and Madera’s Florencio Hernandez in the quarter finals to get to Saturday’s matches.

Lemoore had several wrestlers advance on the first day, including Joe Romero (138 pounds) who will meet Mission Oak’s Jaden Enriquez in the semis as will 145-pound wrestler Greg Guzman, who matches up with Bakersfield’s Navonte Demison.

Angel Solis (182) meets Bakersfield’s Sam Loera in the semi-finals after dispatching his first three opponents. Lemoore’s 195 wrestler, Jacob Gonsalves, got to the quarterfinals before dropping a tough match to Clovis West’s Ryan Reyes.

Lemoore’s heavyweight, Noah Wright, will match up with the state’s No. 1 wrestler, Seth Nevills (Clovis) in the semi-finals.
