Tigers gearing up for West Yosemite League and Kiwanis Meet at Lemoore Time Trials

Lemoore’s varsity boys’ track team turned in some respectable performances at Friday’s Track and Field Time Trials, hosted in Tiger Stadium. The Tigers finished second overall in the boys’ division, with 128.5 points, behind Edison High School’s total of 152 points.

Tiger boys – and girls – continued their perennial domination of the pole vault, as six Tigers took the top seven spots in Friday’s competition. They were led by Christian Irineo and Brian Irineo, both of whom vaulted 11-0 to lead the way. Noa Young and Aidan Ecker took third and fourth respectively, while Ryan White and Elijah Smith were sixth and seventh overall.

On the girls’ side, Annelisa Andrada won the girls’ pole vault with an impressive 7-0.

Edison easily won the team varsity girls’ competition as well, amassing 255 points to Lemoore’s second place 77.5 points.

Lemoore’s next competition comes on Wednesday, March 29 in a West Yosemite League meet at Mt. Whitney High School, which will host Lemoore and Redwood.

The next home competition for Lemoore occurs April 5 with another tri-meet featuring El Diamante and Hanford West. The annual Kiwanis Invitational, one of the largest in the Valley, will be held Friday, April 7 in Tiger Stadium.

On Friday, Lemoore’s Anthony Santos turned in an impressive 11.75 100 meters to finish third overall. Lemoore’s best girls’ finishers were Ariel Zingerbee (14.14) and Ariel Williams (14.19) both of whom finished sixth and seventh respectively.

Sabien Jones and Santos were fourth and fifth in the 200 meters while Azalea Johnson-Neal was Lemoore’s best, finishing fourth overall.

Nathan Burd was second in the 400 meters (51.96), just seconds behind the winner Mahmoud Adams, from Bullard. Burn also won the 800-meters race, boasting an impressive 2:02.72. Johnson-Neal was the top finisher in the 400 for Lemoore, turning in a time of 1:05.58, while Yesenia Dolores, finishing fifth overall, was Lemoore’s best bet in the 800.

Jackson Fagundes was forth for Lemoore in the 1600, posting a 4:57.19.

Lemoore’s 4 X 100 relay team, with Johnson-Neal, Zingerbee, Williams, and Iyahna Jones, turned in an impressive 53.99 to finish second behind Edison’s 51.52 effort. Lemoore’s team of Sabien Jones, Amier Hollis, Michael Sanchez and Anthony Santos took third.

Lemoore’s Noah Wright, fresh from the wrestling mats, took third in the shotput with a 46-6 throw. The winning toss was 47-10 from Dinuba’s Alex Sandoval. On the girls’ side, Lemoore’s Jordan Lee was fifth with a toss of 29-4.

Conor Shortnacy was fifth in the discus with his 110-4. Wright finished in ninth place.

In the high jump, Max Tashima was third (5-10) while Annelisa Andrada was fourth with her 4-4 effort, to go along with her win in the pole vault.

Zingerbee took fifth in the triple jump while Christian Irineo took fifth in the long jump and third in the triple jump.
