Tigers in driver's seat as tennis team beats Hanford Monday afternoon 9-0

By defeating Hanford Monday night, Lemoore’s boys’ tennis team is in the driver’s seat as it seeks the West Yosemite League championship. The Tigers took another step in the right direction by beating the Bullpups 9-0 to improve to 5-1 in league play.

Lemoore is 12-5 overall. The Tigers get their second-round play underway with a match at Hanford West on Wednesday afternoon. The Lemoore junior varsity team also won by a 5-0 score.

In singles’ action Spencer Denney continued his winning ways, beating Hanford’s Kyle Mayfield 6-1, 6-1. Fellow ace Drew Gobby turned in an impressive 6-0, 6-0 win over Paytan Alvidrez. Arnold Cabuhat beat Bobby Steinfeld 6-0, 6-0.

In other singles’ action Jan Cunanan defeated Chase Scott 6-1, 6-0 and Earl Magno beat Xavier Galvan 6-2, 6-0. Finally, in singles’ play Collin Bresenio came out on top of John Testoriere 6-2, 6-0.

In doubles action, Gobby and Denney won 8-1 while Magno and Bresenio teamed up for an 8-2 victory. Connor Riley and Vincent Cam won their match 8-1
